A constellation of foodies descended on The Manor at Friends Colony, New Delhi on the evening of July 18. On the table? A fabulous spread by Chef Manish Mehrotra of Indian Accent, all thanks to the efforts of Delhi Gourmet Club. Masterminded by food blogger Atul Sikand, ‘Mr Old Monk’ and food writer Rocky Mohan and food critic Sourish Bhattacharyya, the Delhi Gourmet Club was born as Facebook community earlier this year- this was its grand inaugural dinner.

On the menu was Chef Mehrotra’s signature fusion cuisine, effortlessly marrying flavors from the East and West. The 10-course meal began with delicious canapes such as Peanut Butter Chicken in Kasoori Methi Tarts and Parmesan Tokri Chaat. Next up was the Khandvi Ravioli and the Foie-Gras Stuffed Galawat, paired with a strawerry and green chilli chutney. There was also a Chironji Dal with Saffron Infusion and a palate-cleansing Mango and Cranberry Kulfi Sorbet. The meal ended on a sweet note with a trio of desserts, including Warm Barfi Treacle Tart and Mishti Doi Cannoli. To celebrate the advent of Delhi Gourmet Club, Chef Mehrotra brought out a decadent chocolate cake. US-based food writer Monica Bhide’s comment summed it all up: “Never before have I been so jealous of a meal.”
